Apple has launched an online counter tracking the run-up to 10 billion downloads from its App Store. The store launched in July 2008, and had notched up three billion downloads by January 2010 – meaning that in the last year, the store has been doing around 583 million downloads every month. It took the iTunes Store eight years to reach 10 billion downloads, but has taken only two and a half for the App Store.
