News that Apple’s App Store is zooming towards the 10 billion downloads milestone has provoked comparisons with the much longer time it took the iTunes Store to reach the same mark. However, research firm Asycmo has been crunching more numbers, and claims that when it comes to royalty payouts, music is still well ahead. The company’s analysis claims that Apple has paid more than $12 billion to record labels since the iTunes Store launched in 2003, and $2 billion to app developers since the App Store went live in July 2008.Read more:
