Danish telco TDC has launched an official Android app for its Play music service. It developed the app with partner 24-7 Entertainment, and it provides users with access to the Play catalogue and their playlists, with the latter able to be created within the app. Offline features enable tracks to be played even when a user has no mobile reception. Social features are built in too, with users able to see friends’ recommendations and share playlists on Facebook. One interesting aspect is the fact that the app is only available on Android at launch, although TDC says that other devices will be announced ‘shortly’. Then again, with mobile operators keen to push Android handsets to their customers, perhaps it’s an attempt to make Google-powered smartphones seem more appealing than iPhone.
