After some excellent pitch sessions, the winners have been announced in this year’s MidemNet Lab startup contest. 30 startups took the stage at MIDEM, split between three categories. The mobile award went to iPad music discovery app Discovr, created by Jammboxx. The flowchart-style app has been getting strong promotion from Apple since its launch earlier this month (Bulletin, 14-Jan-11). The consumer award went to Shuffler.fm, the social music service that launched last year (Bulletin, 12-Jul-10) and helped fans discover new music on blogs. Finally, Next Big Sound won the B2B category for its much buzzed-about social analytics service. The company was first featured by Music Ally back in 2009 when it took funding (Bulletin, 1-Oct-09).
