Microsoft shipped two million Windows Phone 7 handsets last quarter, the company has told Bloomberg. The figure comes after regular speculation about whether sales of smartphones running WP7 have been below expectations. That speculation will continue, of course, because ‘shipped’ isn’t the same as ‘sold’ – it remains open to question how many WP7 handsets are still on the shelves of retailers and in the warehouses of operators. Still, WP7 – which has the Zune software and music store as a key feature – seems to be pleasing the people who did buy a handset.
