With all the big mobile handset makers having announced their Q4 financials, Strategy Analytics has been totting up the figures to see what it means for the overall smartphone market. It reports that 94 million smartphones were shipped in the fourth quarter globally, taking 2010’s total to 293 million – nearly double the 151 million smartphones that shipped in 2009. Nokia remains the top vendor, having shipped 100.1 million smartphones in 2010 – the first company ever to break the 100m mark for these devices.
