Ethan Kaplan has announced his departure from Warner Music Group, where he was heading up the label’s emerging technology unit. His blog post doesn’t really explain why he’s leaving or what he plans to do next, although he will continue running the longstanding REM fansite Murmers, “and maybe take the time to learn some new technology”. During his time at WMG, Kaplan worked on key digital campaigns and sites for artists including Madonna, Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, White Stripes, Green Day and Linkin Park.
