Nokia’s big strategy announcement is coming tomorrow morning, and speculation that it involves a deal with Microsoft to make Windows Phone 7 smartphones is hotting up. Bloomberg says Nokia held talks with both Microsoft (for WP7) and Google (for Android), with the former more likely to lead to a deal. That’s been compounded by a tweet from Google VP of engineering Vic Gundotra, which read “#feb11 “Two turkeys do not make an Eagle”.” The #feb11 hashtag refers to tomorrow’s strategic announcement, while the quote harks back to a one-liner from Nokia’s Anssi Vanjoki back in 2005, when he described the merger of two rivals as “Two turkeys together won’t make an eagle”. The clear implication: no Android deal for Nokia. Our question: since Microsoft makes its Zune music store a core part of Windows Phone 7, what future for Nokia’s Ovi Music in such a partnership?
