Get set for the iPhone nano rumours to return

The Apple rumour-mill is running wild this week. After speculation that iPad 3 may be on the way in September – before iPad 2 has even been announced – Bloomberg is now reporting that Apple is working on a new cheaper, smaller iPhone. Or, as it’s been known in previous gossip, an iPhone nano. The idea would be to compete with more affordable Android and Nokia handsets around the world. “Instead of targeting 25% of the global mobile-phone market, Apple would be going after 100%,” notes analyst Charlie Wolf. The new iPhone would apparently cost around $200 without a mobile contract. TechCrunch has jumped in with its own sources confirming the story.
