A group of 26 major labels has sued isoHunt for allegedly facilitating copyright infringement on a massive scale. The group of labels – which include Universal, Sony, Warner and EMI – hope to shut down isoHunt and owner Gary Fung’s two other torrent sites – Podtropolis and TorrentBox – permanently, and are seeking over $4m in damages for a list of over 200 infringed recordings. The current lawsuit shows similarities to legal proceedings between isoHunt and movie body the MPAA, in May last year when the US District Court of California issued a permanent injunction against isoHunt. IsoHunt is appealing that ruling and will no doubt do the same in this case.
