We wrote about ReDigi earlier this week: it’s the latest startup to try to launch a market for people to resell their digital music. The company says its service is entirely legal. “The distinction is that ReDigi is the marketplace that makes it possible for buyers and sellers to interact with each other directly,” a spokesperson tells Hypebot. “Sellers exercise their legal rights under US copyright law and first sale doctrine in the legal transfer of music. This has never been done, because their hasn’t been the technology to do this and to do it legally.” They reiterate that every sale on the site will generate royalties for labels and artists, although details of how and how much are still scarce.
