Sorry, more Rebecca Black. The teenager shot to infamy thanks to the song and video ‘Friday’, produced for her by US firm Ark Music Factory. Billboard has been analysing the song’s performance on the iTunes chart, estimating that so far, Black has earned around $24,900 a week from the track. She’s self-released the song on iTunes – through CD Baby – with Billboard estimating around 43,000 iTunes sales for the first week. It’s unclear how much Black and Ark are making from YouTube though, where the song has already been watched more than 33 million times. In any case, it’s a tidy college fund, although not the $1 million+ predicted by Forbes in a wildly overoptimistic forecast earlier this week. Then again, if she gets a savvy agent/manager, that sort of money could come from other sources in the weeks ahead.
Is Rebecca Black coining it in from Friday? Not just yet…
