AOL launched a new music app for Android smartphones called Play last month. Now the company says it has been downloaded 250,000 times in its first three weeks. It’s notable that all those downloads have come from Android, since the app isn’t yet available for iPhone or other smartphones. The app lets people share and discover song samples with friends on Facebook and Twitter, and is one of several new social music apps vying for smartphone owners’ attention. AOL also says that its Winamp for Android app has now generated more than three million downloads.
