We’ve written quite a lot about the social games industry in the last couple of years, with music companies increasingly interested in how they can get involved in the rapidly growing market. Now analyst Parks Associates has put some predictions out, claiming that social games revenues will increase from more than $1 billion in 2010 to $5 billion in 2015, fuelled by booming sales of virtual items. “Right now more than 250 million people play games like Zynga’s CityVille and FarmVille on Facebook every month, and both game developers and marketers have taken notice,” says Parks’ research analyst Pietro Macchiarella. “Big brands such as McDonald’s and 7-Eleven have carried out cross-promotions with existing social games.”
