iPad will remain the best-selling media tablet through to 2015, despite stiff competition from Google’s Android OS. Gartner has published its predictions for media tablet sales, claiming that Apple will sell 48 million iPads this year, rising to 138.5 million in 2015. By contrast, it expects 13.9 million Android tablets to be sold this year, rising to 113.5 million in 2015. Gartner also puts numbers to the BlackBerry PlayBook (3.9m this year / 29.5m in 2015) and HP’s webOS devices (2.8m this year / 8.9m in 2015), but thinks Nokia and Intel’s MeeGo OS will be a resounding flop.
