The latest Android device maker to feel Apple’s iWrath is Samsung, which is on the wrong end of a lawsuit for both patent and trademark infringement. “It’s no coincidence that Samsung’s latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad, from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging,” an Apple spokesperson tells All Things Digital. “This kind of blatant copying is wrong, and we need to protect Apple’s intellectual property when companies steal our ideas.” At issue are Samsung’s latest range of Galaxy products – smartphones and tablets. It follows an existing lawsuit against fellow Android stalwart HTC, not to mention Apple’s ongoing patent battle with Nokia. Samsung has hit back with its own statement: “Samsung’s development of core technologies and strengthening our intellectual property portfolio are keys to our continued success. Samsung will respond actively to this legal action taken against us through appropriate legal measures to protect our intellectual property.”
