Social startup Gigya has published some interesting stats on content sharing online, based on data from its sharing widgets, which are embedded on more than 5,000 sites. The widgets let people post links, articles, photos and videos to a range of social networks, so Gigya has been totting up the most popular destinations for these shares. Facebook comes top with 44%, followed by Twitter (29%), Yahoo (18%) and Myspace (9%). Gigya has also published stats on the share of ‘authentication’ by platform on entertainment sites – i.e. when offered the chance to sign into an entertainment site with a social ID, which one do users choose? Facebook is top again with 52%, followed by Google (17%), Yahoo (12%), Twitter (11%), Myspace (7%) and AOL (1%). The most interesting part of this is Yahoo’s strong showing – perhaps it should be on the radar of music sites alongside Facebook and Twitter.Read more: http://tinyurl.com/3stn3g4
