Still think Foursquare is an overhyped service for geeks? Well, you may still be right, but it’s creating waves this week. First, the company has signed up its one millionth user little over a year since launching. Second, it’s now apparently an acquisition target for both Facebook and Microsoft, as well as Yahoo. And most relevantly from a music perspective, the company has revamped its offering for local businesses, making it easier for venues to sign up to provide discounts and offers to Foursquare users, while getting analytics in return on who’s checking in.
