This could be risky. RootMusic has built a thriving business on helping artists and labels make more of their Facebook pages, but CEO J Sider has publicly criticised the social network for its music policy. “When’s the last time you tried to do something with Facebook, and they listened to you?” he asked attendees at the Rethink Music conference in Boston. “We need a concise platform around music that’s here to work with you.” With Facebook having a history of abrupt changes to its platform for application developers, RootMusic faces the same uncertainties that affect social games publishers. In any case, its BandPage offering seems to be going from strength to strength, with 21 million monthly active users through the pages that it powers for artists. Source: Evolver.fm
