The second deal of the week for Rdio following its Echo Nest partnership is an agreement with US mobile operator Verizon Wireless. Rdio’s Android app will now be made available through Verizon’s V Cast store, complete with carrier billing that will enable users to be charged for the Rdio premium subscription through their phone bills. For now, the deal only covers Android smartphones and tablets sold through Verizon, and there are no details on what kind of revenue share Verizon is taking. According to MocoNews, Rdio is looking for similar deals with other mobile operators as it looks to promote its $9.99-a-month premium service, which includes mobile access. “We think that mobile and the ability to cache on mobile devices is a big part of the proposition for people,” says Rdio’s Marisol Segal.
