iOS developer Smule’s Magic Piano was an early hit on iPad, letting people tinkle on virtual ivories, including playing along to a selection of classical pieces and nursery rhymes. Now it’s made the leap to iPhone with a new freemium business model. Magic Piano for iPhone is a free download, but will sell songs via an in-app store. Lady Gaga’s Poker Face and Bad Romance are among those on offer for the app’s launch week. What’s being sold here are effectively piano scores (even if they don’t look like them), so licensing-wise we’re assuming it’s publishing deals only. As with the iPad version, there are social features including the ability to rate the performances of other users around the world. Source: AppShopper
