Microsoft has been talking on a developer podcast about some new features coming to its Windows Phone OS later this year, and they include an intriguing new music service. Here’s how WPCentral describes Bing Audio: “Think Shazam, but built into Bing and we bet of course Zune Marketplace. Country support is initially limited to the U.S., Great Britain, France, Italy, Spain and Germany.” What we don’t know from this snippet is whether Bing Audio is actually powered by Shazam, or whether it’s using a rival music recognition technology. Meanwhile, another new feature is Bing Vision, which promises to scan, recognise and search for barcodes, QR codes, CDs, DVDs, books and text.
