US incubator YouWeb has revealed its latest project: an iPhone and iPad music app called Pluto Plays Music. Developed by entrepreneur Luis Sampredo, it teaches children music via the medium of a cartoon penguin and songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, The Magic Flute and Ode to Joy. It’s aimed at children aged six and up. The game is free to play, but uses in-app payments to buy virtual currency – pearls – which in turn unlock new levels and instruments. It’s part of a wider burst of activity around the music edutainment apps space – for example, see the Juno Jr app we wrote about earlier this week. Source: VentureBeat
