Starbucks launching digital scavenger hunt with Lady Gaga

Sorry, another Lady Gaga digital marketing story. Not content with setting up shop in FarmVille, Gaga is also part of a new QR code-based scavenger hunt being run by Starbucks in the US. SRCH by Starbucks featuring Lady Gaga will get people to scan QR codes in-store with their phones to get clues, while being encouraged to visit certain blogs and websites. Players solving the clues get Gaga-related prizes, and the contest runs until early June. On 23 May, Lady Gaga will also take over the Starbucks Digital Network website, allowing customers of the coffee chain to stream her new album for free, download the Edge of Glory track and watch an exclusive video. “It’s a natural fit,” says Starbucks’ director of digital strategy Alex Wheeler.
