Analytics firm Distimo has published some data on Google’s Android Market, which shows how paid apps are having a hard time paying off in comparison to Apple’s App Store. 80% of all paid Android apps have been downloaded less than 100 times. Meanwhile, only two paid apps have racked up more than half a million downloads in Android Market – Distimo says that six paid iPhone apps got to a similar milestone in just two months. The same is true of games: five paid games in Android Market have more than 250,000 downloads worldwide, but ten paid iPhone games reached 250k in two months in the US alone this year. On the free side, 96 Android apps have been downloaded more than five million times, with Google Maps the first to hit the 50 million mark.
