The state of Tennessee has passed a law making it illegal for users of subscription services like Napster and Netflix to share their passwords with other people. Senate Bill 1659 includes “entertainment subscription service” amongst other services that can be considered theft – such as sneaking into a film without a ticket or hacking into a cable TV service. Separately the Recording Industry Association of America has expressed support for Senate Bill S. 978, which will make streaming of unlicensed content a criminal act alongside illegal uploading.
