Apple revealed that the Mac market has grown 28% while the PC market shrank 1% – outgrowing the industry every year for five years. 73% of the Macs shipped today are notebooks. The Mac OSX operating system, now a decade old, has been relaunched as Mac OS X Lion. The most obvious new additions are those that combine multi-touch gestures, full-screen viewing and “Mission Control” app launcher to bring the iPad/iPhone feel to the computer desktop. Other features include Resume, which brings your windows and apps back exactly how they were before quitting; Auto-Save and Versions, which keep track of documents as you make changes; Air-Drop, a peer-to-peer wi-fi sharing network; and a new version of the Mail email app. The surprise is that instead of costing around a hundred dollars, as operating systems often do, all these new features are being sold for USD $29.99.
