Rootmusic, maker of the BandPage application that adds MySpace-like features to Facebook, has teamed up with direct-to-fan platform Topspin. Thanks to the partnership, Rootmusic’s 200,000 bands will now be able to sell merchandise. “We’ve been asked many times about other things that make an artist’s career really successful”, said Rootmusic founder J Sider. “We’re excited to now provide them with solutions that are beyond the marketing.” The payment engine comes via Topspin and is for music-related goods, largely merchandise, as opposed to the virtual goods that sell through Facebook and are associated with games like Farmville.
