With an increasing number of video-on-demand services compatible with the iPad, it’s easy to get bewildered or end up defaulting to a comfortably familiar choice. Fanhattan is an app designed to help armchair surfers navigate the choppy waters of Netflix, Hulu, ABC-TV and iTunes (yes, this is only going to appeal to American viewers at present) by acting as a guide to the programmes and films currently available. If a film or show is available on more than one platform, Fanhattan gives you the option to stream / rent / buy it from whichever service suits you. The business model is based on affiliate sales, ie directing customers towards iTunes or Netflix in exchange for a small cut.
