Collecting society PRS For Music has signed up Soundmouse to supply audio fingerprinting technology for identifying music performances broadcast on radio. The monitoring activity will begin on the 1st October 2011, with the results in terms of distributing member income showing up on royalty statements from April 2012. Soundmouse, which was founded in 2011 and provides services to 450 media companies all over the world, was selected after a tendering process. “After extensive research into music recognition technology we selected Soundmouse as they were the clear leaders in their field”, says Keith Hill, head of research and development at PRS For Music. “The new technology will increase accuracy of distributions to members and further enhance the efficiency of royalty payments.”
