Malaysian internet service providers have been asked to block filesharing services including the Pirate Bay and hosting services including Megaupload, according to TorrentFreak. The order has reportedly come from SKMM, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, which has the power to “implement and enforce the provisions of communications and multimedia law” and “regulate all matters relating to communications and multimedia activities not provided for in the communications and multimedia law.” A memorandum instructs ISPs to block access to a number of websites which are claimed to be contravening Malaysian law.
