Inside Facebook has published some intriguing data on Facebook’s user count, claiming that the social network had 687 million monthly active users by the start of June this year, adding 11.8 million in May. However, it points out that in some of Facebook’s biggest markets, its number of active users actually fell in May. In the US, for example, Facebook had 155.2 million monthly actives at the start of May, and 149.4 million at the end. Canada also lost 1.52 million monthly actives during the month, with the UK, Norway and Russia all losing more than 100,000. Facebook’s overall growth wasn’t impeded thanks to sharp growth in Mexico, Brazil, India, Argentina, Colombia, Thailand and other countries.
