Sony Music and Radical Media announced a partnership earlier this year to make a crowdsourced Michael Jackson video, getting fans to contribute their own dance moves and footage to be woven together into a promo for posthumous song Behind The Mask. The final results were released yesterday, later than expected after thousands of submissions swamped the team behind the vid. 1,600 fans made it into the final cut. “There was a flash mob from Russia that did a Michael Jackson dance that they created for the video. And on the smaller side, there was a girl who had taken a long time to draw MJ in the snow,” explains director Dennis Liu. The video made its debut on Facebook yesterday, although it’s only watchable if you Like Jackson’s Facebook page. Radical Media has previously worked on projects for Johnny Cash and Arcade Fire.
