Two ‘official’ apps for US rapper Pitbull have been released for iOS simultaneously. Pitbull is the work of Mobile Roadie and published by Sony Music Entertainment, with the standard mix of news, videos, tourdates and community features. The separate iPad app Pitbull – Planet Pit is a different kettle of fish. It costs $9.99 for starters, and is a whopping 660MB download, developed by ROBA Interactive (a group of industry veterans who launched their startup in March to focus on iPad music apps). This app includes more than 30 HD videos, 250 ‘pages’ of photos, audio and artist info, producer notes, a timeline of Pitbull’s career, interactive lyrics and links to exclusive online content. “This platform gives the fans an eye in my life, a birds eye view in watching 360, full spectrum, from every perspective, and how I give it to you street, give it to you business, and give it to you Pop,” says Pitbull. What’s interesting is the dual strategy of a free Mobile Roadie app for iPhone, and a premium offering for iPad. Pitbull app Planet Pit app
