Digital music distributor 88tc88 has announced a new deal with mobile operator China Unicom to sell digital music to its customers. That means the company now has a full set of operator deals in China, with China Mobile and China Telekom already signed up. “Our agreement with China Unicom enables us to not only provide our customers full coverage of China’s mobile carriers, but importantly, China’s growing iPhone subscriber base, now estimated at over four million,” says co-founder Thomas Reemer. The company focuses on delivering Western music to Chinese mobile users, and says that on average, it has been selling 15 copies of each track a month in various mobile formats, including ringback tones and subscription packages.
