Remember when Imogen Heap wore a ‘Twitter dress’ to an awards ceremony, integrating live updates from her followers? Well, Lady Gaga is taking that idea and running with it, as part of a sponsorship deal. A new microsite launched with MAC Cosmetics is inviting fans to upload photos of themselves, which will become virtual sequins in a big online matrix… thing. Our terminology, obviously. If fans then share details of the site via email, Facebook and Twitter, the more friends sign up, the bigger their sequin becomes. And then the sequin matrix will be made into a dress for Gaga to wear at Paris Fashion Week this September. It’s all to promote a new line of lipsticks being sold to benefit HIV and AIDS charities.
