This year’s UK BT Digital Music Awards has made its call for submissions for the 2011 event, which will take place at Camden’s Roundhouse on 29 September. There are seven categories for artists and music companies, with three more for services – Best Place to Discover Music, Best Place to Hear Music and Best Place to Buy Music (won respectively by the BBC, YouTube and Apple last year). The latter three categories will be mulled over by a panel of judges to create a shortlist, before being opened up to public voting. There will also be People’s Choice Awards that any music site can enter. BT says it’s ‘restricting participation in the awards to sites and services that have licensed music from official sources’, so if The Pirate Bay are reading, probably don’t worry about sending your tuxedos to the dry cleaners.
