Following months of speculation that online video portal Hulu was planning a premium version, Hulu Plus has been announced. It costs $9.99 a month, and gives subscribers more TV shows, and access from a wider range of devices including PC, iPad, iPhone, PS3 and selected Samsung Blu-ray players. In fact, the Hulu Plus app for iPhone and iPad launched alongside the announcement, offering a taster of the new service. Here’s an interesting aspect: the premium version doesn’t lose the ads. “Hulu Plus is a new, revolutionary ad-supported subscription product that is incremental and complementary to the existing Hulu service,” explains CEO Jason Kilar. So the ads help “keep the price low”, but don’t disappear entirely for paying users. Source: TechCrunch Source: Hulu Blog
