A new study by Futuresource has put numbers to the growing interest in watching videos on smartphones. The topline stats: 64% of iPhone users do it, but only 32% of other smartphone users do. This is based on a survey of 2,500 people across the US, UK, France and Germany. The study also found that 25% of smartphone owners in the UK and US are downloading apps to their phones – although this statistic seems rather low to us. Other data: “Facebook is a keystone for driving mobile internet usage, being the most visited site across all territories, followed by Google and YouTube, although in the UK YouTube relinquishes its third place position to the BBC, which is accessed by 44% of smartphone owners using mobile internet,” according to Futuresource’s Alison Casey.
