Dance site Data Transmission has published the results of its survey on how the dance industry views piracy. It asked more than 200 label managers, PRs, producers, artists and promo companies for their views, and found that 74.3% think piracy has adversely affected their business; 65% think Google and other search engines should be forced to block links to illegal torrent and download sites; and 50.6% support three-strikes regimes to clamp down on piracy. Interestingly, 44.2% think legal streaming services like Spotify are beneficial to their business, compared to 15.6% who think it’s damaging – with 40.3% still undecided.
