It was the point where Music Ally found itself attending a gamification conference in Shoreditch earlier this year that we took a long hard look at ourselves. But actually, gamification isn’t just a trendy buzzword – the idea of bringing game-like mechanics to other products and services in an interesting way has legs. Now startup Gigya is looking to do it for websites with a new service called Game Mechanics. It’s aimed at all kinds of companies, but we think it could be useful for artist sites, adding high score tables and user achievements, along with virtual rewards for activity. Gigya isn’t the only company doing this though: if you’re interested in this kind of thing for your artist sites, we’d recommend looking at Bunchball and Badgeville too. Source: VentureBeat
