The screenshots for new iPhone app Pocket Popstar may look familiar – an avatar on-screen recommending music. That’s because it’s effectively the same idea as Pocket Hipster, an app launched by We Are Hunted earlier this year using The Echo Nest’s APIs. Pocket Popstar is the work of the same pairing, with lip-curling hipsters replaced by more friendly popstar types. The aim is still to analyse the user’s iTunes library and make recommendations of new songs they may like, with streaming samples and the ability to buy tracks from the iTunes Store.
