There are many companies promising to help brands (and bands) dig into their social media analytics. Now one has the official seal of approval from Twitter. The company has bought startup BackType, which works with more than 100 companies on analysing social analytics. The company will now be working within Twitter on tools for Twitter’s publisher partners. That could be good news for labels and artist managers looking to get more data on how their artists’ Twitter activity is leading to website traffic and sales – although the bad news is that BackType’s existing BackTweets service won’t be registering any new users while the company works on its new projects within Twitter.
