Facebook is not expected to unveil its new music features until its developer conference in August, but developers digging around in the code for the social network’s new video chat plugin have found a hint at what it may be called. According to SiliconFilter, the code refers to a separate plugin called Facebook Vibes, associated with a ‘MusicDownloadDialog’. The blog then goes on to suggest that Facebook may be planning a music locker service to compete with Apple, Amazon and Google, although that’s not something that has been suggested in previous speculation. Instead, Facebook is expected to be partnering with several streaming music services to allow them to be used within the social network as well as in their standalone clients. Another caveat: Vibes may well be just a codename for the new Facebook music product – Facebook Music would surely be a more logical choice of moniker.
