South African band the Parlotones are the latest artist to livestream a gig on Facebook, and one of the first to do it using the Facebook Credits virtual currency to charge fans. The band performed Dragonflies & Astronauts on Saturday, working with startup Milyoni on the livestream. Fans were asked to pay 10 Facebook Credits to watch – the equivalent of $1 – but proceeds were going to charity Rhino Force rather than the band. Milyoni has previously worked with US band Widespread Panic, who attracted 2,000 viewers for a webcast in June. It’s the second music story involving Facebook Credits this month, following MXP4’s deal with EMI to sell in-game music from the label’s artists in its Bopler Games. Source: Mashable
