The net appears to be closing in on the Anonymous and LulzSec hacking collectives. The UK’s Metropolitan Police have announced the arrest of a 19-year-old man who they believe was involved in both groups. The official statement also suggests that his online nickname was Topiary – the high-profile spokesperson for the groups in recent months. The man was arrested in the Shetland Islands, and is now being questioned in London, while another 17-year-old has been interviewed under caution in Lincolnshire in connection with the inquiry. Anonymous and LulzSec have been responsible for a spate of hack attacks in recent months, starting with the music industry but moving on to wider targets including PayPal and News Corporation.
