In the battle against Apple’s iOS and other smartphone/tablet platforms, one of the weak points for Google’s Android has been the performance of its Android Market app store. It’s growing fast, but developers of paid apps in particular complain that it is still underperforming in actual sales. Now it seems Google is looking to change that, building on improvements to the actual Android Market store by hiring a new marketing director for mobile applications. Patrick Mork joins from independent app store GetJar, and on past form should give Google a punchy new spokesperson – he’s the man who in a blog post about Apple trying to force GetJar to stop using the phrase ‘App Store’ wrote “In the words of Twisted Sister: We’re not going to take it! Steve Jobs isn’t our Dad”. Source: Mobile Entertainment
