Bluetooth as a viral distribution technology for music? It’s been a while since we’ve heard about that idea, but electro band Data Romance are apparently set to try it at their upcoming shows. Mashable reports that the band will be plastering their merch booth with posters telling fans to turn on their Bluetooth to receive some free tracks. “We loved this idea and since no band has ever offered this on a tour before, we were sold on the idea right away,” says the band. “While we have nothing against download cards or QR codes, this is a uniquely direct, with no strings attached, instant way to get content to our fans.” Well, some of their fans anyway: iPhones can’t receive file transfers via Bluetooth, so only Android-owning fans will be able to bag the free tunes.
