Digital distributor The Orchard has announced the appointment of Peter McCarthy as its new SVP of marketing. He joins from book publisher Random House, and will report directly to CEO Brad Navin, working out of the company’s New York office. “Pete has been a change agent successfully marketing media to consumers and retail alike,” says Navin. “We are extremely excited to bring Pete’s leadership and analytic mind to our team as we enhance the value of our sales and marketing technology platform.” McCarthy was vice president at Random House, heading the publisher’s marketing efforts including social media. He’s part of an increasing crossover between execs in the two industries: several book publishers in the UK have former music industry faces in key digital roles, for example. Source: The Orchard
