Scandinavian firm Aspiro has announced its latest interim financial report, which includes stats on the growth of its WiMP streaming music service. “Music is now Aspiro’s largest business segment in sales terms, and has passed 300,000 paying users, double the previous quarter,” says CEO Gunnar Sellig. “So far, our music services are present in four countries. We’re also continuing negotiations on further launches.” The company’s deal with Norwegian TV provider Canal Digital has resulted in 100,000 of the latter’s customers using the service. In Q2 2011, Aspiro’s music business generated net sales of SEK 26.5 million (around $4.1m), but its EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) was a loss of SEK 6.7 million (around $1m).
